Jega gave the assurance in Enugu in a message he delivered
at a one-day interactive session for INEC staff from Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
Represented by the
National Commissioner, South East, Mrs Gladys Nwafor, Jega said the commission
had already designed a strategic plan to attain the objective.
Jega explained that INEC had embarked on the interactive
session to ensure that its employees were involved in the implementation of the
strategic plans.
“This gives the commission the unique opportunity to tap
from your rich store of knowledge and experience as well as gives your
ownership of the plan,’’ he said.

session seriously in order to make meaningful contributions to the project.

style, which he said, necessitated the interactive session.
Azubuike said that the approach would accord the strategic
plan legitimacy, acceptance and ownership, which it deserved.
He said that the plan, which included specific activities,
timelines, responsibilities and cost, were being worked out by the various
departments of the commission, state and local government areas.
Nwafor later presented the commission’s 2012-2016 strategic
plan to the participants.
He added that its objective included, the provision of
electoral operational systems and infrastructure to support the delivery of
free, fair and credible elections.
Others were to improve voter education, training and
research, and register and monitoring of the activities of political parties.
No fewer than 145 participants attended the training in
which some 2,000 INEC workers nationwide were expected to participate in the
exercise before the final production of the plan.
