Neros Pharmaceutical Limited has donated drugs worth N6.1m and N500,000 cash to flood victims in Anambra State.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr Poly Emenike handed over the items to the state Deputy Governor  Mr Emeka Sibeidu in Awka. He said the company was touched by the level of devastation and the plight of the victims.

Emenike commended the state government for responding promptly to the situation and called for more assistance from individuals and organisations to complement government efforts.

“I was deeply touched by what I saw and it gave me an insight into the enormity of the problem.

“I also saw an advert by the government that called for assistance. It was on this basis that I decided to answer the clarion call.”

In his response, the deputy governor thanked the company for the donation and promised that it would be judiciously utilised. He said that the items would go a long way in reducing the suffering of the victims but added that more donations were still needed to meet the enormous challenges.

“The Anambra government is very happy not just with the management of Neros, but all those who have responded to the call for assistance in favour of the disaster victims.

“I am assuring you that the government committee for this disaster management in collaboration with SEMA will ensure that the donations received are judiciously deployed,’’ he said.

Sibeudu said it would be wrong for anyone to divert the relief materials meant for the flood victims, warning that the act would be punished severely.

The Tide reports that the drugs consist of Antibiotics, Antimalarial, Multi-vitamins, Paracetamol, Antifungals and Doxicyline.
