Rotary Makes Case For Physically Challenged Persons
The new President of Rotary Club, Umungasi, Aba in Abia, Chief Ezindu Ubani, has appealed to public-spirited Nigerians to help physically challenged persons.
Ubani made the appeal after his installation as the 28th President of the club in Aba on Monday.
He said that people making positive impacts on the lives of the needy would go a long way in making the society a better place for all, and described Rotary International as the “biggest and best- humanitarian organisation “ committed to rendering meaningful service.
Ubani said that the club had designed some laudable projects for 2012 and 2013 rotary Year.
According to him, the club has donated 25 wheel chairs to physically- challenged persons and provided free eye clinic for different communities.
He said that it had constructed boreholes in three communities; donated Information and Communication Technology equipment to 10 secondary schools in Aba and distributed Insecticide Treated Nets to pregnant and nursing mothers.
Meanwhile, the Rotary club has honoured some individuals for their services in the society, namely, :Chief Goodluck Amaefula, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aba North Local Government, and Chief John Pedro Irokansi, the Permanent Secretary and Clerk of Abia State House of Assembly.
Others are Chief Anthony Avoaja, the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Abia State Polytechnic, Aba; Mr Obinna Nwaogwugwu, the Head of Works, Aba South Local Government, and Mrs Ijeoma Ngozi, the Deputy Transition Committee Chairperson, Obingwa Local Government.
