Ebonyi To Establish LG Libraries

Director of the Ebonyi State Library Board,  Mr Dan Ibiam ,said the State Government had concluded plans to establish a library in each of the 13 Local Government Areas in the state.

Ibiam made the disclosure in an interview in Abakaliki on Friday, He said that government was concerned about the overall development of education in the state, noting that establishment of libraries would fast-track learning and research at the grassroots.

According to the director, the State Government will collaborate with Local Governments and well-meaning individuals to achieve the goal.

The director said: “information is the life-wire of any society, therefore, for you to develop any society you must be conscious of the information the society generates’’.

Ibiam said that establishment of the libraries would enable the people to have access to information with ease.

He said further that the measure would bring rapid transformation in the educational development of the state.

“When everybody has access to information through reading and research, then we will be on the march to national transformation,’’ he said.
