Anambra To Create Jobs Through Culture, Tourism

The Anambra State, Government says it would reverse the
growing unemployment among the teeming youth through the revival of culture and
tourism.

The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr
Joe Martins Uzodike, disclosed the plan in Awka while speaking with newsmen.

Uzodike said that the state was endowed with lots of natural
falls and sites that had remained untapped and would be fully utilised now to
create job opportunities for the youth.

According to him, his ministry has keyed in to using such
natural gifts in solving unemployment problem in the state by turning such
sites around for job creation.

Uzodike explained that the water falls in Owerre-Ezukala,
Igbo- Ukwu cultural elements, Ogbunka falls, and Ogbunike cave would be
upgraded to international standards, where skilled youths would be engaged to
man them.

He further said that the ministry had planned to utilise
culture and tourism in curbing the employment problem in the state and that
efforts would be directed to needed areas for the goal to be achieved.

The commissioner announced that statistics of all the hotels
in the state would be taken and fixed in the Anambra Website for all to access
wherever they were as well get some revenue for the state.
