Activist Tasks Lecturers On Research

An Onitsha-based activist, Emeka Umeagbalasi, has tasked Nigerian university dons to search for research-based solutions to the country’s myriad societal challenges.

Umeagbalasi  said in Onitsha, Anambra State that if the country’s universities were serious, there would have been research-based solutions to the country’s societal problems.

“That something must be done to radicalise the system; we can’t continue like this.

“If you look at Europe, there are three most indebted countries in Europe – Greece, Spain and Italy; researches are ongoing in their university faculties to find solution. “In US, like I said, you have 120 research universities, but none of Nigeria universities is research-based.

Umeagbalasi argued that time had come for Nigerian professors to speak less grammar and proffer practical solutions to the country’s problems.

“All professors should go back to research and find solutions for us to make headway. “Most Asian and American countries as well as neighbouring African countries previously at par with us are now overtaking us in all aspects of human development,’’ Umeagbalasi said.
