‘Why Dolphins, Rivers Angels’ Reception Was Delayed’
Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Fed Igwe, has explained that the delay to officially receive and reward Dolplins and Rivers Angels FCs that won the Nigeria Premier League and Female Federation Cup last season was due to the tight schedule of the clubs.
Hon. Igwe stated this at the official reception of both teams on Monday, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Port Harcourt.
According to him, everything weeded to host the clubs were ready ahead of time but the problem was that the teams were always engaged in one assignment or the other.
“Your excelency, Dolphins and Rivers Angels FCs are the teams that made the state proud in 2010/2011 football season.
Everything you needed to host them had been on ground before now but the problem was that the players of the clubs were not always available at the same time, when Dolphins were available, the Angels would be out and vice versa, but today we managed to catch them both” Igwe said.
The Commissioner, revealed that 21 players in Rivers Angelswerealso playing for Nigeria’s female nationals teams, (Falcon and Fallconets).
“Your Excellency, I want to say that Rivers Angels are Spectacular, because 21 of them are playing for either Fallconets or Falcons, that makes the state a training ground for the nation” he stated.
