RSG Partners World Bank To Check Unemployment

The Rivers State Government says it will partner with the World Bank to ensure the implementation of the World Bank Assisted State Employment and Expenditure Results (SEEFOR) programme in the state.

The Commissioner for Budget / Economic Planning, Mr Gogo Levi Charles said last Tuesday in his office, when the World Bank Assisted SEEFOR project, visited him.

Mr Charles who said that government is desirous of ensuring the implementation of the programme in the state, said that the situation would go along way in tackling the problem of unemployment in the state.

While stressing that the state government was prepared to sign the subsidiary agreement of the project pending when they were ready, he noted that with the introduction of SEEFOR in the state, most of our unemployed youths will be off the streets soon.

The commissioner however said that for the programme to succeed, the ministry will embark on the massive training and retraining of its staff while incentives will be created to motivate them.

The leader of the World Bank team, Dr George Labi thanked the state government for supporting the programme with vehicles and office space in the state.

Dr Labi who is the World Bank representative in Nigeria however said that the official signing of the SEEFOR project will take place later in March 2012.

The Permanent Secretary, Sir Promise Njiowhor also thanked the World Bank team for considering Rivers State for the project.
