Egypt To Install Surveillance Cameras At Sport Facilities

Egypt’s Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri, has decided to install surveillance cameras in all sports facilities after the February 1 football fans clashes in the Port said Stadium.

The clashes left 74 people dead and hundreds injured Egyptian official newspaper al-Ahram, reported that Ganzouri made his decision after holding two meetins over the Port Said treagedly and the possible resumption of domestic football  activities.

The paper said that Ganzouri would appoint a new governor for Port Said within days.

Emad al-Bannani, head of the National Sports Council, said the penalties for the \port Said’s al=Masry team would be announced within ten days.

Last week, Egypt referred 75 people to a criminal court for their connection with the football match riots.

Those charge included nine police officers, three officials of el-Masry club and two minors.

Among the police officers were former Provincial Security Chief, Essam Samak, and Commander of Central Security Forces in Port Said, Abdel Aziz Fahmi.

The clashes broke out in Port Said Stadium, after el-masry team beat the most popular Egyptian team, el-Ahly 3-in an Egyptian premier league.
