Rivers State women football team, Rivers Angels are set to begin the 2012 league season as they play host to arch rivals Bayelsa Queens FC today at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.

The Angels are ready to open the season with a colourful performance having done their homework to overcome any hurdle ahead of the team this season.

The club, which is determined to win the FA Cup and league title this season would leave no-stone unturned in achieving their target.

According to the team manager of the club (Angels) Matilda Opuene, the team who narrowly missed the league title last season after being defeated by the Delta Queens FC at the Super Six play-off is now poised to win the duo this season.

However, Bayelsa Queens would do everything to  frustrate their hosts by going for the points at stake as to start the league on a good footing.

The Queens, no doubt, are a good side and would fight to prove themselves but the Angels are poised to emerge victorious today.

It would be recalled that the Angels won the FA Cup and emerged runners-up at the Super Six play-off last season.
