Rivers PDP Set For Congress

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the party is ready to conduct a peaceful ward and state congresses on Saturday.

The state Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mr. Celestine Menibe who stated this last  Friday in a chat with The Tide assured that the party would ensure a level playing ground to all candidates for all the positions.

According to him, the party has ended the sale of forms for all the congresses.

“We shall ensure that everybody is given equal opportunity to contest in the congresses. For me, the congress is like every other elections in the party and the party executive will ensure transparency”, he said.

The PDP spokesman noted that the party in the state is yet to be given the go ahead for the congresses, adding that the actual date for the congress is not known yet.

Meniebe said the party executive has concluded arrangements regarding the sale of forms stressing that only qualified persons would go in for the congress.

The Tide was informed that the party national leadership has earlier fixed January 28 for the ward congress, but the party said they are yet to be informed of the development.
