‘Woluchem’s Death, A Big Loss’
The chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers King T. J. T. Princewill, has described the death of Eze Apara Rebisi, Eze S.N.Woluchem as a big loss not only to the council but the entire Rivers State.
King T.J.T. Princewill who disclosed this in an interactive session with journalists in his office in Port Harcourt last Friday said that the council was saddened by the demise of the King and the Queen of Port Harcourt.
King Princewill who is also the Amanyanabo of Kalabari, said that the death of the Rebisi monarch, brings to four the number of prominent traditional rulers who have so for departed this world to the great beyond.
He listed some achievements of the council within the last two years to include hosting of President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience and other prominent Nigerians.
Other achievements include the construction of the chairman’s lodge and the replacement and refurbishment of gadgets in the council auditorium particularly the air conditioning system to ensure the comfort of monarchs during sitting.
Prof Princewill said within the period under review, there was the recognition of three new royal fathers while one stool was upgraded to first class.
Meanwhile, King Princewill has called for a summit of all traditional rulers in Nigeria to discuss the security situation in the country.
He said that, this has become necessary following the spate of killings arising from the activities of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
According to him, the activities of the sect were not only alien to Nigeria, but capable of threatening the corporate existence of the country.
He also thanked the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his support so far and stressed the need for the filling of vacant chieftaincy stools in the state.
