Skating Tourney Commences In Calabar, ’Morrow

The maiden edition of the Skating Championship scheduled to commence tomorrow at the Tinapa Resort near Calabar would hold in both male and female categories.

The championship Co-ordinator, Alberto Osang, told The Tidesports yesterday at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, that the event was meant to encourage young people to take to sports.

“The championship is aimed at redirecting  energies of our youths for productive ventures, to eliminate societal ills,’’ Osang said.

Osang said that the 1st ZNAC Skate and Win 2011 Competition slated for Adiabo would include the Stunt and Free- Style events.

ZNAC-Inspired Production Ltd are into the business of discovering and grooming sports talents.

He said the Local Organising Committee of the championship had directed that accreditation of competitors and volunteers would be conducted Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 at the U.J.Esuene Stadium.

Osang said the championship would be supported by the Cross River First Lady, Obioma Liyel Imoke, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Raymond Obeten, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs,Ekama Awara.
