Guber Candidate Promises Mechanised Farming In Kogi

The PDP Governorship Candidate for the December election in Kogi, Rtd. Capt. Idris Wada, has promised to introduce small and medium scale mechanised farming in the state if elected as the governor.

Wada, who made the promise at the inauguration of his campaign on Saturday in Lokoja, said that industrial zones would also be established to tap the abundant mineral resources in the state.

He said that his desire was to move the state to the next level in agricultural production and stimulate the economy for self sustenance and reliance.

The PDP flag bearer hinted that his government would accord special attention to education and manpower as well as youth development to consolidate on the achievements of governor Ibrahim Idris.

In a related development, the Kwara State government has promised to assist market women in the state with N3 million soft loan to boost their businesses.

The State Commissioner for Commerce and Cooperatives,  Alhaji Saka Onimago who made the pledge while addressing allottees of the Ultra Modern Market at Adewole in Ilorin last  Saturday, said the market would be used to its full capacity to justify the huge amount invested on it by the state government.

He enjoined the allottees to form cooperative groups based on their commodities and register with banks in order  to benefit from government’s empowerment programmes.

He commended the State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed for making life more meaningful for the citizenry, and promised to discuss the issue of reduction of shop rents with the state government
