Surveyors Seek Role In Governance

The Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (NIS), has said that surveyors in Nigeria have a vital role to play in the transformation agenda of present Goodluck Jonathan’s led administration in Nigeria.

Speaking in an investiture which was organised by NIS in Katsina, over the weekend, the President of the institute, Surveyor Yakubu Maikano stated that impact of surveyors must be visible if the  transformation programme must make a headway.

The surveyors’ boss explained that practitioners in the field of surveying have paid so much sacrifice and have taken remarkable level of risks in ensuring that infrastructure across the country are put in place.

He said that one major sector that can guarantee mass employment, is the building and construction industry, when it is properly harnessed.

According to him, a lot of things take place in the construction site and many professionals operate in this sector.

He pointed out that much demand is placed in the sector, adding that the policy that would address the excess demand in the sector should be taken very seriously.

Maikano also said that land is a very key factor in production, adding that everything revolves around land which makes surveyors propose on how to manage the land profitable paramount.
