Kaduna State contingent’s Kickboxing coach at the on-going 17th National Sports Festival, Mr Armstrong Bako has blamed the loss suffered by his athletes in kickboxing sports yesterday to inexperience.

Coach Bako told The Tide after his athletes lost on split decision that most of the boys that Kaduna paraded at the festival in kickboxing are new and have never fought in the ring before the festival.

He said the impressive performance the state put up at the 16th National Sports Festival tagged “KADA Games” which the state hosted seemed to have gone to the wind because the boys that made the state proud had gone in search of greener pastures.

“The boys that represented the state in kickboxing in KADA Games 2009 have gone in search of greener pastures. Those who partake in this event are new boys. Almost all the boys we have are new boys, they’ve never gone to the ring before, this is their first time.”

The Kaduna State kickboxing coach said he is however hopeful of a medal at the event as they have more fights to go, saying “actually it’s our hope that we’ll pick up a medal in this event”, while describing the last fight as “a very good fight” with balanced officiating, although they lost.
