Chiefs Back Chairmanship Aspirant

Ahead of local government elections in Rivers State, the People and chiefs of Nonwa have pledged to back Sir, Philip Poroma for the chairmanship of Tai Local Government Area.

The assurance was made recently when Sir Poroma visited the Nonwa Area Council of Chiefs and Elders last week to seek for support in the forth coming local government elections.

Poroma who is contesting under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was on the tour to wards and communities under Tai.

Mene Barikpe Mballey, dismissed the claims that the chairmanship of Tai local government has been zoned to a particular segment of the area.

Mbally noted that the position of the Nonwa Area of Chief and Elders is that all aspirants, irrespective of his community is qualified to run for the seat of the council.

The council of chief said they are supporting poroma, stating that they would not allow few selfish individual to use zoning and ruin the chances of a good candidate.

Earlier, Sir Poroma said his intention is to build a new Tai, adding that he would redirect and reposition the government.

Poroma, former commissioner for social welfare and rehabilitation pledges to prepare the youths of the local government for a better foundation.
