CBN Gets Tender For Conference Centre, Hotel Construction
Nigeria’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has began to receive tender to select the best architectural design concept for implementation of the construction of proposed International Conference Centre and a five-star hotel in Abuja.
Tender which has a lifeline of two weeks, calls for provision of architectural consultancy services for the multi-purpose centre and has been on and would last for another one week which indicates that the terminal date for the tender is the end of this week.
Sources disclosed that the competition is open to professionally recognised architectural firms within and outside Nigeria, but that international firms must present evidence of collaboration with a suitable and registered Nigerian architectural firm.
The project, according to sources, involves the conversion of the Old NITEL building to an international conference centre with multi-purpose halls, business centres, five star hotel, shopping complex, restaurant, banks and a sport centre.
This is coming under CBN’s 2011 capital project for which the bank plans to select the best design concept for implementation, and the process may fall in line with the new guideline issued by the Association of Consulting Architects of Nigeria (ACAN) which made it mandatory for promoters of such competition to pay honourium for design concept of professional architects.
Prospective applicants are expected to provide evidence of registration with Corporate Affairs Commission, certified true copy of Memorandum and Article of Association and evidence of employees among others.
The project will also feature an auditorium designed to accommodate up to 50 people for National and cnternational conferences.
