Rivers UBE To Recruit 576 NCE Graduates

As part of efforts to enlist National Certificate of Education (NCE) graduates in the federal teachers scheme, the Rivers State branch of the Universal Basic Education Board has planned to recruit 576 NCE graduates n the state.

Speaking to The Tide in a telephone interview, the executive chairman of the Board, Sir Alli Oruitemeka, said the essence of the recruitment is to enhance teaching and learning in the basic education sub-sector of the state.

“It is also expected to be an internship period as a requirement for registration with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN),” he said.

According to him, the major objectives of the Federal Teachers Scheme are to provide employment to only NCE graduates in a bid to reduce poverty, and assist the state to address shortage of qualified teachers for the successful implementation of the UBE programme.

Others are to enable fresh NCE graduates to have practical experience in their chosen career before they get a pensionable job and to provide adult literacy services to host communities.

Oruitemeka used this medium to call on qualified unemployed NCE graduates to partake in the exercise.

He also stated that the recruitment will go a long way to check the trend of youth restiveness in the state.
