Forum Endorses Women For Elective Positions
The Forum of Female Aspirants of Rivers State, has urged the various political parties in the state to consider their famale members for elective positions in the forthcoming general elections in the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the Forum, Mrs Nancy Stephens, who said this in an interview with newsmen during a rally in Port Harcourt, said that women should be given the opportunity to represent their people at the various levels of government in the state.
The Forum Public Relations Officer, who is an aspirant for Port Harcourt Constituency 11, Rivers State House of Assembly, also stressed the need for the people of the state to participate actively in the forthcoming voters registration exercise.
Also speaking, another female aspirant, Mrs Queen Bobmanuel, promised that the society will be better of, if women are given leadership position in the society.
Also speaking, Mrs Charity Deemua thanked Mrs Patience Jonathan for the campaign for women emancipation.
Mrs Deemua, who is a councillor spirant in Khana local government area also urged for legislation for the 35 per cent affirmative action for women in the country.
Also speaking, Mrs Patience Emigheni Aselemi, said that the women are ready to take what rightly belongs to them.
She also said that electing women into position will bring about economic development in the state
