The Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) on Tuesday gave the Federal Government one month to implement the Media Salary Structure (MSS).

RATTAWU President, Comrade Yemisi Bamgbose, issued the ultimatum in Lagos during a courtesy visit to the newly inaugurated members of National Theatre Chapter of RATTAWU.

Bamgbose warned that the union would resume its suspended strike if government failed to implement the MSS within the period.

“The strike is not aimed at any management; it is not for any organisation, but for our survival,’’ he said.

He said that the strike embarked on by the union was to call the attention of the Federal Government to the plight of members in federal media establishments.

Our Correspondent  reports that the National Theatre chapter of RATTAWU was inaugurated on November 24.

Bamgbose thanked the General Manager of the National Theatre, Mr Kabir Yusuf, for the new face of the theatre.

“Theatre is not an ordinary job. It is a special profession which protects the country’s image. I thank you for representing us well,’’ Bamgbose told Yusuf.

According to him, the cultural sector of the economy is very vital to Nigeria’s economic development and so RATTAWU members should be paid well.

Yusuf expressed gratitude to the RATTAWU President and pledged his continued support and allegiance to the union.
