Methodist Primate Scores Amaechi High
The Primate of Methodist Church of Nigeria Dr Sunday Makinde has scored Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi high for his good leadership and infrastructural development in the state.
Dr Sunday Makinde gave the pass mark last Monday when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Amaechi at Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Primate, who is in the state for his Apostolic tour of Rivers and Bayelsa States, said he • particularly gave Governor Amaechi pass mark for the good leadership and social amenities he has provided for people.
Dr Makinde also lauded Governor Amaechi for declaring free education and health care for the people, explaining that the church is happy about the programme as there is a partnership between the church and the state, noting that if it is not well with the state, it is not well with the church, because the state is about people and the church is about the people.
The Primate also expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Governor for his effort in returning peace to the state, noting that kidnapping has reduced, compared to other states in Nigeria, saying that kidnapping is now a national problem.
‘On the 2011 general elections, the Primate said that Nigeria needs free and fair elections and called on politicians to desist from using the youths as thugs and bodyguards during the election.
He assured the Governor of the continuous prayers of Christians and solicited for assistance in the rehabilitation of Baham Methodist Primary School, Port Harcourt.
Responding, Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi said the present administration in the state would continue to partner with churches to bring positive change in the lives of the people.
He thanked the Primate for the visit and called for more prayers from the churches to enable him fulfill God’s requirements for the people.
