Youth Development Tops Aspirant’s Agenda
An aspirant for the Akuku-Toru C onstituency I seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Comrade Victor Tulutu Briggs, has listed youth development, infrastructural development, women empowerment and security as his top priorities for the area if elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Briggs who is contesting for the Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, told newsmen in Port Harcourt that his intention to contest the state Assembly position was a call to service by the peoples of Akuku Toru Constituency I.
Briggs who is also president of the Rivers Youths Organisation said he counts on the massive support of his people to secure the party ticket during the primaries for effective representation. The contestant said drawing from his antecedent and experience as a youth activist, he will listen to the voice of the people while in the Assembly to attract accelerated developments to the area.
He added that he had embarked on several programmes including advocacy programme which had been beneficial to youths of the state.
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee a level playing ground to ensure credible election is achieved in 2011. He enjoined Nigerians to ensure that their votes count in 2011 in order to elect leaders of their choice.
