Stella FC Underrated Sharks -Obuh …As Ivorians Fall 0-5 In Semi

Sharks FC of Port Harcourt has  gotten a brighter chance to play in the finals of this year WAFU Cup, as it white-washed Stella FC, Abidjan 5-0 in the first leg of the semi-final match played at the Sharks Football Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking with Sport journalists, shortly after the match, the technical adviser of Sharks FC, John Obuh said despite the fact that they won, the game was tough, saying that their opponent fought like a wounded lion.

“Our opponent played their best irrespective of their short time training, they actually fought like a wounded lion”.

The game was a very tough one, despite the fact that we won convincingly, Obuh said.

Also speaking, the chairnma of Stella FC, Kaita Lamine commended Sharks over their impressive performances, adding that the players are co-ordinated.

According to him, the major reason why they lost was that majority of their good players are injured and did not come for the match.

“Why we lost was because most of our good players had injuries and they did not play”.

Lamine expressed confidence that his team would beat Sharks for the return leg, but not sure whether they can win them up to that goal margin.

I am not sure that we can win upto that goal margin, because that 5 goals is much for us to cancel”.

Meanwhile manager of Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt, John Obuh said visiting Stella FC of Cote’d Ivoire underrated the strength of his team in the Ist leg, 3rd round of the West African Inter Club competition played on Sunday.

Speaking to sportswriters after the match in an interview, Obuh said the visitors played for a draw in order to finish off the game in Abidjan.

Obuh, however, commeded the calm and disciplined play o his boys which ensured the huge scoreline.

“My boys played with discipline and calm which resulted in the scoreline and I must commend them for their performance.

The Ivorians actually played to finish us off in Abidjan, they forget that football is here and now”, he said.
