The people of Rivers State have been urged to embrace the on-going voter registration exercise to enable them exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general election in 2011.

The call was made in Sogho, Khana local government area, Rivers State by a socio-political group, Sogho Progressive Alliance (SOPA).

Speaking to newsmen last weekend, leader of the group, Prince William A. Nziidee, noted that the call became necessary in order to sensitise the electorate to perform their civic responsibility, by voting and ensuring that their votes are counted.

Nziidee, a lecturer at the Rivers State University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, also used the opportunity to call on the people to support the second term bid of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and  called for support for the future plans of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Hon Magnus Abe.

The lecturer said the call became necessary because the government of Rt.Hon.Chibuike Amaechi has out-performed those before him in terms of physical development in the state.

Nziidee also urged the people of Sogho to shun politics of acrimony and support Amaechi and Abe on their plans.
