The Zamfara United FC Supporters Club was on Monday  dissolved by the State FA to enable a single virile club to emerge from the several groups parading themselves as supporters clubs.

Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, the Zamfara FA chairman, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Gusau shortly after a meeting of all fans of the Premier League side.

Musa said the meeting was summoned followed the emergence of several bodies claiming to be supporters of the club, adding that the groups were working at cross purposes.

He said a six-man caretaker committee had been set up to coordinate the activities of the groups for the emergence of a single body that would work for the progress of the football club.

The caretaker committee is headed by Alhaji Hassan Pawa, while the Vice chairman is Alhaji Usman Alhaji and the Secretary is Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Yellow.

Others members are Malam Saidu Bunus (treasurer), Alhaji Bashir Shehu (Public Relations Officer) and Alhaji Bashir Isah (Organising Secretary).

“In recent times, we noticed the springing up of so many groups in the name of

supporters club for Zamfara United football team, a situation that has made the coordination of a virile supporters club impossible,’’ Musa said.

He disclosed that the committee had three months within which to organise election for a new leadership to emerge.

Musa said though the state government was ready to provide funds for sports development, fans must not be seen to be working in the opposite direction.

The chairman said Zamfara United had prepared for the 2010/11 season and called on the people to support the team during the campaign.
