Coach Advises Lagos Judokas On Discipline

A judo coach, Ihaza Edokpolor, on Tuesday advised Lagos State judokas to be more disciplined as they prepare for the 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.

The Games were earlier scheduled for the Rivers capital in November but were postponed to February 2011.

Edokpolor gave the advice while discussing the performance of the judokas at the recent zonal elimination for the Games with Tidesports source in Lagos.

He said that the judokas should not be carried away by the euphoria of coming tops at the qualifiers which had five states under the National Sports Commission (NSC) Zone I in attendance.

Edokpolor noted that the judokas must improve on their skills during training sessions and not allow pride to rule them.

“The judokas have to be more serious and disciplined in preparing for the National Sports Festival.

“If they do, I see them performing excellently at the festival,’’ he said.

Our correspondent reports that Lagos led the other four states with 14 gold, two silver and four bronze medals in the senior, junior and cadet categories.

Other states that attended are Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo and Ogun.
