Why I Want To Be Governor – Shittu
I am the most refreshing alternative in Oyo State, a Labour Party (LP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu, has said.
Shittu, a legal practitioner and immediate former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, told our correspondent that he joined the race because of his compassion for the poor and under privileged persons.
Shittu said the solution to the problem of governance in Oyo State was his five-point agenda which include enhanced free education, free medical services, full employment with empowerment, integrated rural development and support for agricultural development.
The 57-year-old politician said his involvement in politics dated back to his school days in 1978 at University of Ife, when he was a member of Committee of Friends that participated in the formulation and writing of policy on free education at all levels for the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN).
Shittu said that being the youngest member of Oyo State House of Assembly at the age of 26 in 1979 and a dynamic parliamentary debater for four years, prepared him for the challenges ahead in the state.
“I was the most active and most popular by the nature and quality of the representation and my contributions to debate, one of which was when through my motion, all expelled students of origin Oyo State from Kwara College of Technology were reabsorbed into Ibadan Polytechnic,’’ he said.
