NDE Settles 69% Rivers Youths
About 69 per cent of Rivers Youths trained by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) have been settled in various skills, while a total of 120 youths are currently undergoing trainings at Omuma Local Government of Rivers State.
This was made known recently by Chief Napoleon Amachree, Leader of a 7-man delegation from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) during a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari.
While noting that the activities of NDE in the state is in line with its mandate, which is “to train youths in the state,”Chief Amachree said the purpose of the visit was to bridge the gap between the federal and state government on Youth Empowerment, and build a working relationship between them.
According to him, “youth-related problems in the state can only be addressed when a working and cordial relationship is established between the two levels of government.”
He thus urged the state government to work out a reliable and long-lasting system that would ensure that youths are trained.
“The structure for such training is on ground, but the resources for settling the trainees are lacking,” he noted.
In her remark, Mrs Semenitari re-emphasised the state government’s commitment to training and retraining of youths in the state.
According to her, the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi-led administration “stands tall in the country as far as the issue of citizens’ welfare is concerned.
The Information and communication boss noted that the state government has achieved about 150 per cent in training of the youths, taken the youths off the streets and embarked on total empowerment of Rivers people.
While commending Chief Amachree-led delegation for their concern for the welfare of the youths, she assured them that government is doing everything possible to empower the Rivers man.
