Nigeria’s World Cup grant of N900 million has now been received by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as the team get set to play their first match of the 2010 World Cup.

Additionally, the NFF have sourced for money to pay the players their 25 per cent of the pot from the FIFA World Cp participation grant of $8 million.

Officials of the NFF secretary, including Assistant General Secretary (Finance and Admin) Musbau Kayode came into South Africa on Wednesday and top officials confirmed that the team came with the full government grant.

“In addition, we have also sourced and got the 8 million US dollars that we are due to get from FIFA after the tournament.

“We want to pay the players what is due to them to avoid any issues of finance during the tournament”, officials told Tidesport source yesterday.

The players were given a day off on Wednesday and went shopping at the Richards Bay Mall, where they were mobbed by locals wanting photographs and autographs.

They will depart for Johanesburg today ahead of their opening game against Argentina tomorrow.
