Indomitable Lions Ready For W/Cup – Le Guen
Cameroon’s coach Paul Le Guen says the Indomitable Lions are ready ahead of the World Cup which kicks off today.
Despite having recorded two draws and two defeats in four warm up, Le Guen has declared that he is satisfied with the preparation of the team so far was optimistic about Cameroon’s chances.
“What we wanted has been done. We trained under good conditions and had four friendly games.”
However, he admitted. that there were still a few hitches notably at the defence and midfield which he hopes to rectify before Cameroon plays the first match in the tournament.
He also promised to work on dead balls such as free kicks and corner kicks.
“The team is better and the team spirit is good because I have succeeded to make the players compete for a place in the first eleven of the team,” he said.
The coach said he deliberately opted for difficult matches so as to enable the players face a strong opposition commensurate to level of the World Cup rather than choosing weak opponents whom they could easily defeat.
He said the verbal battle between Samuel Eto’o and Roger Milla, nor the ‘unjustified’ red card against the skipper in the encounter against Portugal, had not dampened Eto’o’s spirit and that they had put the incidents behind them
