Teachers urged To Be Dedicated
Teachers have been urged to see themselves as life-builders and foundation to other professions.
The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adebisi Sosan, made the call on Wednesday, at the 2009 Lagos State Government, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) annual merit award held at the SUBEB hall, Maryland.
The DeputyGovernor, who was represented by the Tutor/Permanent Secretary, District IV, Mrs Bola Ajani, described teachers as a sine qua non in children upbringing.
The Executive Chairman, SUBEB, Mrs. Gbolahan Daodu, said the award was set to encourage teachers and non-teaching staff that have worked hard for the development of the state and also encourage healthy competition among them.
The second best head teacher, Mrs. Ogundiyi Atinuke Allice, from Central Primary School, Festac expressed gratitude to Lagos State government adding that her interest to work earned her the award.
She appealed to the government to give free books and other educational materials which will make the future of education system in the state better in the 2010 than the previous years.
Also speaking, the best class teachers, Mrs. Florence Titilayo Aderemi at African Primary School, Mosan, Ipaja, Lagos, attributed her success to God and determination for teaching profession.
“I love my job and I take it seriously, there was a day almost lost my life on my job”, she recalled.
