PH City Academy Sets New YSFON Record

Port Harcourt City Academy has broken an age-long youth sports federation of Nigeria (YSFON) record, by winning for keeps three different trophies in completion organised by the Rivers State chapter of the body.
The Coach Joseph Egbu-led team won for keeps the Under 14, Under-16 and Under 17 trophies for the 2009 football season of YSFON grassroots development soccer championships.
The Academy won the trophies in 2007, 2008 and 2009 football seasons.
The club rod on Mac I soccer Initiatives back to win the Under 14 and Under 17 titles while Mirrow of Justice provided the ladders for the club to climb and become under -16 champions, all for keeps.
Coach Egbu, fondly called Ziko is also in the race, preparing his boys for under -18 showdown at the liberation stadium later this month.
The secretary of YSFON, Rivers State chapter, Collins Wejinya and told Tide sports in Port Harcourt that the club had put up an excellent performance and actually deserved those trophies.
He reiterated that “Ziko is a world class coach who had been doing well in grooming these future stars”.
Wejinya also commended Port Harcourt future stars for winning the under -12 trophy, saying that YSFON is the future of Nigerian football as it develops football at the grassroots level.
