Ogoni Unity Cup To Kick-Off Dec

In a bid to fish out potential talents at the grassroots level in football, the Ogoni Football Organisation (OFO) is billed to organise a soccer tournament tagged “Ogoni Unity Football Cup competition” scheduled to kick off early next month.

The press officer of the body, Mr Barididum Leema, who made this known recently to Tidesports noted that the competition, geared towards enhancing peace in the area, is expected to be a success.

According to Leema, preparations are on high as all necessary arrangements have been concluded for the soccer fiesta.

He said that the preparations was sealed with statement issued at the end of the just-concluded OFO congress held in Bori, where the body resolved that each local government area (LGA) in Ogoni land should present two teams for the tournament.

The body also called on interested teams to pick-up registration forms from their respective LGA co-ordinators.

The co-ordinators are Chief  Solomon Lah for Gokana and Venerable Goka Mpigi for Tai.

Others are Chief Jacob Nkpa for Eleme, while Honourable Friday Nwidam is for Khana.

Centres to host the competition include, Birabi Memorial Grammar School (BGS), Bori, Police field, Bori, and the Rivers State Polytechnic field, Bori.
