The National First Vice-Chairman of Judo Association of Nigeria, Hon. Timothy Nisirim says Judo would be given priority in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) in Rivers State, adding that the LGA will soon form a judo association.

Nsirim, who is also the Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, made this known while fielding questions from sports journalists yesterday shortly after he was honoured by the State Government as the best sports philanthropist at the local government level.

According to him, Judo is like traditional wrestling and the most expensive sports in the world, adding that we would ensure that “the sports is placed on the front burner.

“Judo is like our traditional wrestling and the most expensive sports you can think of in the world, but even at that I will make sure that I sponsor Judo to any level in the state, because Judo is the game I love,” he said.

The Obio/Akpor boss expressed joy over the award given to him, saying that he did not know that government will recognized his efforts in sports development.

“I never knew that a day will come when the state government will honour me. I really appreciate this honour he stated.

The first vice-chairman explained that the award will spur him to do more in sports development and make sure that Judo wins gold medals in the forthcoming national sports festival billed to be hosted by the state next year.

“I lost my association secretary in a fatal motor accident, so, for now, I am in a mourning mood. It will be after his burial that the associations will spring into action for preparations and his death will not make me to relent in sponsoring the association in and out of Nigeria,” he concluded.
