Eaglets Get More Kudos

Over a week after the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria lost to their Switzerland counterpart in the final of the just-concluded FIFA Under-17 World Youth Championship in Nigeria, the Nigeria lads have continued to receive accolades for a job well done.

Commending the Eaglets the Director of Rivers State Stadia Authority, James Nmehielle told Tidesports in Port Harcourt that the “victory was worth celebrating because it was contrary to the opinion of many Nigerians before the commencement of the championship.

“Many thought the boys will not go far in the competition since they were not together for a long time. I mean these boys were left to their fate but God saw them through,” he said.

He also commended Coach John Obuh and his crew for taking up the short period and recording such feat noting that it was hard luck that denied the team of the trophy.

Nmehielle stated the need to prepare the young stars for the Under-20 team, saying that in these boys, Nigeria has abundant talents that will replace the Super Eagles in the future.

It would be recalled that Golden Eaglets lost 2-1 to Switzerland at the final of the FIFA Under-17 Youth Championship hosted by Nigeria on the 15th of this month.
