NDC Lauds RSG’s Development Strides
Impressed by the numerous development projects executed by the Governor Amaechi led administration in Rivers State, the commandant of the Nigerian Defence College (NDC), Real Admiral G. J. Jonah has called on the government to sustain the good vision.
Rear Admiral Jonah gave the charge during a special briefing of members of course 18 of NDC by the Secretary to the state government, Magnus Abe, on Friday in his office.
The naval chief declared, “Rivers State is one of the states that is doing well and is focused.”
He stressed the need for the government to study the post amnesty situation and ensure that the youths are carried along in the scheme of things.
Commending the government for the projects, Rear Admiral Jonah stressed the need for sustainability, noting that re-integration of the youths is one path to ensure stability in the state.
The NDC chief who lamented the decay in the value system blamed the situation of the lack of patience demonstrated by the youths in achieving success.
Admiral Jonah described success as a process and harped on the need for productivity by the teeming youth in order to sustain the vision of the present administration.
He thanked the government and good people of Rivers State for the hospitality shown to members of the college, who were in the state for a study tour.
Earlier in his address, secretary to the state government, Mr Abe said lots of youths are involved in the political mainstream of the state,” a lot of the councilors in the local councils are mainly youths,” he said.
He maintained that the present administration has not shown any segregation in the selection and involvement of youths in governance as far as one is capable of demonstrating the qualities needed.
On the other hand, he stressed that the Amaechi government has de-emphasized thuggery and violence in governance.
This he said is to give the youths a new sense of orientation that real power does not come from brute force.
