Eaglets Striker Vows To Paint Championship With Goals

Golden Eaglets forward, Stanley Okoro has vowed to paint the FIFA Under-17 World Championship which gets underway two days from today in Nigeria with goals that will eventually help his team to a successful defence of the trophy won two years ago. Tidesports source gathered that after the tune-up matches against Julius Berger Football club in Lagos, the Heartland of Owerri goal-getter, said one of the targets he has set for himself in the championship is to emerge the top scorer at the end of the proceedings. “I am used to scoring goals like you will see me score here today. My target is to score lots of goals at this championship, God helping me, to help my team do well at the championship. “The competition will no doubt be very stiff but we intend to do our best to defend the trophy won in 2007. I realize that with a lot of goals the team will do well, because the game is about scoring goals, so I have decided to score goals”, he declared. Okoro known among his teeming fans as “little messi” said he is looking forward to having a sweet competition that will launch his young career to greater heights, adding that the team is made up of excellent and young players that are battle ready for the task ahead. He however, called on Nigerians to pray for the team as it commences the championship defence few days from now, saying that, with maximum support, the young team will go places.
