Urban Renewal: RSG Partners Estate Surveyors
The Rivers State government has pledged to partner with estate surveyors and valuers in its urban development programme.
The Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, stated this at the weekend during the 2009 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Seminar, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in conjunction with the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria.
The Governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner of Urban Development, Barrister Osima Ginah, further indicated that it was the policy of government on the urban renewal programme to value the property marked for demolition, pay the owners before the demolition exercise.
Earlier in his speech, Barrister O.C.J. Okocha (SAN), said that compensation in relation to the urban renewal programme of the Rivers State was a right and advised the state government to sustain its urban renewal drive.
Also speaking, the Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in the state, Sir Mark Nemieboka, appreciated the urban renewal programme of the Rivers State government with the presentation of a plague to the state governor.
