Boat Owners Receive 5,000 Life Jackets
About 5,000 life jack
ets have been presented to Speed Boat Association of Okrika by a philanthropist, Atamuno Ajubo Atamuno to ensure the safety of travelers during boat mishaps.
Speaking while presenting the life jackets, Atamuno said the gesture was borne out of his love for his people and the need to forestall loss of lives as a result of boat mishaps.
“I thought it wise to provide some form of safety to passengers who travel from Okrika to Port Harcourt, so they could have some form of safety while travelling”.
“We are also providing training programme for boat drivers in order to properly equip them, in addition to the 170 scholarship awards and the Okrika language programme that is currently running on air,” he said.
He appealed to the people to make use of the life jackets, saying “any life lost can never be regained”.
Responding, the Chairman of the Speed Boat Association, Epeya Sunday Okari expressed gratitude to him for coming to their aid and prayed God to bless him.
