{"id":96389,"date":"2014-09-19T06:36:34","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T05:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=96389"},"modified":"2014-09-19T06:36:34","modified_gmt":"2014-09-19T05:36:34","slug":"ncc-declares-nitel-mtel-others-inactive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=96389","title":{"rendered":"NCC Declares NITEL, MTEL, Others Inactive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian<br \/>\nCommunications Commission (NCC), has tagged Nitel, Mtel, Starcomms as inactive in a bid to restore subscribers hope.<br \/>\nAccording to a top management staff of the commission, who pleaded anonymity, the other affected network providers include, Reliance Telecoms (alias Zoom mobile) , intercellular, and mts first\u00a0 communications.<br \/>\nOthers include, Nitel, O\u2019Net (odela Telecomm) Rainbow net, Monarch Communications, Xs Broadband, Webcom, and Disc communications.<br \/>\nThe declaration of the inactive operators which was also available on the commission\u2019s website, has one national carrier, one GSM operator, five Code Division Multiple Access (CDMN) operators and six Fixed\/fixed wireless operators received the NCC\u2019s flogging.<br \/>\nThe agency explained that the affected operators were sometime ago vibrant, but could not wait to declare them inactive after a successful investigation on them.<br \/>\nThe Tide learnt that the said operators turned inactive, sequel to the 100 per cent loss of its customers to other operators.<br \/>\nOur findings also revealed that the listed operators went into hiding and could no longer provide competitive services to its subscribers\u00a0 who then\u00a0 decided to part to other net work operators.<br \/>\nAccording to the websource, the likelihood porting was not limited to the mobile number of portability (MNP) scheme that was introduced April 2013 by concerned authorities.<br \/>\nIt was further learnt that the affected operators had long ago, shown signs of distress in their operations.<br \/>\nEarlier, the NCC has said that its action was aimed at studying and circulating the exact figures of telecommunication operators in the country.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_96392\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/FRED190914-ICT-18.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-96392\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-96392\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/FRED190914-ICT-18-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on ICT, Engr.
