The federal government has promised to resolve the demand for pay rise by unions in Polytechnics and Colleges of Education sub-sector without discrimination.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Minister of Education, Dr Sam\u00a0 Egwu, who stated this in Abuja at a meeting with unions in Polytechnics and Colleges of Education negotiating team\u2019s assigned that the principles used in fixing the new pay package for university union would be followed.<\/p>\n
\u00a0He explained that the national salaries, income and Wages commission has been directed to produce the new salary table for staff in the two sectors within the shortest possible time to allow for signing of an agreement to that effect.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Dr Egwu lauded maturity disposition of staff of the institutions for heeding government\u2019s appeal on the issues which led to peaceful atmosphere in the sector while the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike lasted.<\/p>\n
\u00a0According to him, government has maintained its earlier promise that the outcome of negotiation with ASUU would be extended to the sector pointing out that it is not only, by confrontation that Union could negotiate to get things for their members.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The minister enjoined National Salary and Wages Commission to handle the assignment with the serious it deserves noting that, the union\u2019s cooperation was not a mark of weakness.<\/p>\n
\u00a0National President of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, Mohammed Ibrahim said the impeccable disposition of the minister of education to fairness manifested many times throughout the meeting sustained the confidence of his members.<\/p>\n
\u00a0He urged Dr Egwu\u00a0 to monitor the process of\u00a0 the new salary table to ensure that the fiscal out come is a true reflection of what has been generally agreed to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
