{"id":74804,"date":"2013-11-01T05:07:48","date_gmt":"2013-11-01T04:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=74804"},"modified":"2013-11-01T05:07:48","modified_gmt":"2013-11-01T04:07:48","slug":"dont-erect-masts-near-residential-areas-engineer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=74804","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t Erect Masts Near Residential Areas &#8211; Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telecommunication<br \/>\ncompanies have been cautioned against erecting communication marts around residential areas due to its hazardous nature.<br \/>\nTelecommunications Engineer,\u00a0 Nnamdi Didia said this in an exclusive interview with The Tide Wednesday in Port Harcourt.<br \/>\nHe noted that telecommunication masts are always prime targets for enemies in times of war.<br \/>\nDidia, said that masts are meant to be far from residential areas in order to reduce attack should their be crisis in such places.<br \/>\nAccording to him, those whose houses are built near masts are sitting on a keg of gun powder, due to its high attractive nature in crisis period.<br \/>\nOn the issue of the likelyhood of those residing near masts to suffer from cancer related diseases, he said such may be possible due to the radioactive substances it releases to the atmosphere on daily basis.<br \/>\nDidia hinted that people are aware of the danger of erecting masts near their homes, saying that they are attracted because of the huge sum of money\u00a0 that telecommunication companies normally offer.<br \/>\nHe also kicked against erecting of different masts by different companies, hinting that all telecommunications companies could have their antennas in one masts.<br \/>\nHe further revealed that too much presence of masts could affect flight operation especially during late hours.<br \/>\nHe therefore called on the Federal Government to regulate the activities of telecommunication companies mainly in the area of masts erection.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_74807\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/FRED0111130ICT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74807\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-74807\" alt=\"L-R: Special Adviser on ICT to Rivers State Governor, Engr.
