The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on
\nThursday in Kaduna said only 15 per cent of candidates sitting for its
\nexaminations in 2013 would use the Computer Based Test.<\/p>\n
Its
\nRegistrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde stated this in Kaduna during a campaign to
\npromote the newly introduced method of examination.<\/p>\n
The
\ncampaign was conducted at the State Ministry for Education, Kaduna State
\nUniversity, Kaduna Polytechnic, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)
\nand the National Teachers\u2019 Institute.<\/p>\n
He said the sensitisation
\ncampaign was designed to educate candidates sitting for the Unified Tertiary
\nMatriculation Examinations (UTME), on how to use the computer.<\/p>\n
The registrar said the
\ncomputer based test would only become compulsory for all candidates in 2015.<\/p>\n
Ojerinde said that the
\nprogramme was designed to migrate candidates from the use of paper and pencil
\nin examinations to full usage of computers.<\/p>\n
He said
\nit would also guarantee faster release of results, assuring that candidates who
\nsat for the examinations using the new method will receive their results 30
\nminutes after the examination.<\/p>\n
The
\nregistrar added that it would also \u201celiminate cases of incomplete results or
\nresult blackout\u201d.\u00a0 It will ensure prompt
\ndelivery of raw scores and will also check examination malpractice.\u201d<\/p>\n
The JAMB
\nofficials had earlier visited Lagos and Rivers States for the campaign during
\nwhich leaflets and other educational materials were distributed.<\/p>\n
At the state university, the Vice Chancellor, Prof.
\nBarnabas Qurix said the institution, which serves as venue for UTME, was fully
\nready for the commencement of the computer based test.<\/p>\n
On its part, the NBTE Executive Secretary, Dr
\nMas\u2019ud Kazaure, said the board would ensure that all polytechnics and technical
