Omu-Aran Development Association
\n(ODA) has\u00a0 donated laboratories and
\nscience and computer equipment worth N30 million to four schools in the area.<\/p>\n
Our correspondent reports that the schools are Omu-Aran High
\nSchool, Ofe-Aran Commercial College, Ogbo Grammar School and Aperan
\nComprehensive College.<\/p>\n
The association\u2019s president, Chief Peter Oyinloye, said that
\nthe project was financed from the proceeds of the 2012 Omu-Aran Day held on May
\n19.<\/p>\n
Oyinloye said that \u201cevery child counts and that is why we
\nalways give priority attention to the education of our children.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is also in tandem with the educational policy of the
\nKwara State Government in ensuring that every child acquires functional and
\nqualitative education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Oyinloye said that the rehabilitation of science buildings
\nand reconstruction of laboratories cost N14.8 million while science equipment
\nand home economics materials were acquired for N7.1 million.<\/p>\n
According to Oyinloye, 20 units of computer sets and back-ups
\nwere acquired at the cost of N7.5 million while other items gulped N1.1
\nmillion.<\/p>\n
Oyinloye appealed to the state government to deploy more
\nscience teachers to schools in the area and provide motorised boreholes for
\neffective utilisation of the equipment.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Lamidi Alabi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of
\nEducation and Human Capital Development, who represented the state governor,
\nAlhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the government would look into the association\u2019s
\nrequest.<\/p>\n
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye, urged the
