Following Sunday\u2019s closure of Abuja-Lokoja road, the FRSC on Monday announced additional alternative routes for vehicles coming into the nation\u2019s capital from the South-South and South West zones.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The zonal commander in charge of the FCT and Niger, Mr. Augustine Aipoh who announced the routes, directed motorists from the zones to take Jebba-Mokwa-Makera-Tegina-Suleja-Abuja route.<\/p>\n
Aipoh said that they could also take Zungeru-Minna-Lambata-Suleja-Abuja or Jebba-Mokwa-Kutigi-Bida-Lapai-Lambata-Suleja-Abuja road.<\/p>\n
He said the FCT Sector Command had deployed its patrol team to Niger and Nasarawa to complement traffic management efforts in the two commands.<\/p>\n
He said the measure was necessary because of the expected increase in the volume of traffic to and from the FCT through the routes.<\/p>\n
Aipoh gave the assurance that the commission had adequate men and equipment on the routes to respond to any emergency from the expected increase in traffic.<\/p>\n
He, however, advised motorists using them to avoid dangerous driving.<\/p>\n
The zonal commander urged them to drive at \u201ccommon sense speed\u2019\u2019 as many of them might not be conversant with or used to the routes.<\/p>\n
The FRSC on Sunday announced the closure of Abuja-Lokoja road due to the overflow of River Niger which has made it dangerous and impassable.<\/p>\n
It urged motorists driving from Lagos and wishing to use Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road to divert to Okene-Ajaokuta-Ayangba-Ankpa-Makurdi Lafia-Akwanga-Abuja route.<\/p>\n
It said those coming from the South East should use Otukpa-Makurdi route and those driving from Abuja to Lokoja should use Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi-Ankpa-Okene route. It said that it had also deployed more personnel to the route.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
