{"id":49662,"date":"2012-08-17T02:05:16","date_gmt":"2012-08-17T06:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=49662"},"modified":"2012-08-17T02:05:16","modified_gmt":"2012-08-17T06:05:16","slug":"bayelsa-to-recruit-300-ict-science-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=49662","title":{"rendered":"Bayelsa To Recruit 300 ICT, Science Teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bayelsa State Government, has announced its readiness to<br \/>\nrecruit about 300 Information and Communication Technology(ICT) and science<br \/>\nteachers to man its primary and secondary schools.<\/p>\n<p>The Bayelsa Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson announced this at<br \/>\na meeting with education\u00a0 stakeholders at<br \/>\nGovernment House, Yenagoa, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson said the aim is to enable the students appreciate<br \/>\nthe importance of ICT and modern teaching technique.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the initiative, will transfuse new blood<br \/>\ninto the stream of education and teaching in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Bayelsa chief excutive also said that plans are in top<br \/>\ngears to organise a one-week intensive training and retraining\u00a0 for headmasters and teachers in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that only those who performed exellently in the<br \/>\nexercise would be allowed to remain in the school syetem.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, teachers would be regularly exposed to the<br \/>\nbasic rudiments and modern\u00a0 ways of<br \/>\nteaching.<\/p>\n<p>The Tide was informed that up to 5,119 teachers and 541<br \/>\nheadmasters from the public schools in the state will participate in the<br \/>\nexercise, adding that,\u00a0 they will be<br \/>\ntested on the skills acquired at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>The Tide further learnt that the measure is to effect<br \/>\ndrastic changes in the education sector in support to its compulsory and free<br \/>\neducation policy.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he ordered the immediate down sizing of the<br \/>\nnon-academic staff in the primary school, in order to enable the government to<br \/>\nmoblise funds to other important needs.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Bayelsa state commissioner for Education, Mr<br \/>\nSalo Adikumo, noted that the meeting was to enable stakeholders to brainstorm<br \/>\nand chart the way forward.<\/p>\n<p>Others who spoke at the gathering, pleaded with the state<br \/>\ngovernment not to allow politicians and other heavy weights in the state to use<br \/>\nthe exercise to witch-hunt their suspected enemies, while lauding the gorvernor<br \/>\nover his plans to sanitize the education system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bayelsa State Government, has announced its readiness to recruit about 300 Information and Communication Technology(ICT) and science teachers to man its primary and secondary schools.
