Plateau State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prof.
\nComfort Piwuna, said on Monday that the state government had taken steps to
\nmake its civil servants computer-literate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have taken steps to ensure that Plateau civil servant
\nhave at least a working knowledge of Information Technology. All of them must
\nbe IT-compliant,\u201d she told The Tide source in Jos.<\/p>\n
Piwuna said that Gov. Jonah Jang had expressed commitment to
\nthe goal, and even made it a cardinal principle of the administration.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlready, we are collating data from the ministries,
\nparastatals and agencies to ascertain those who are already compliant.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce we have the entire data, we shall begin the training
\nof those still behind so as to ensure a totally computer literate service and
\nmake governance easier.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecoming computer-literate is very crucial because almost
\neverything has been computerised globally,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The commissioner explained that the ministry had begun
\ninstallation of internet connectivity at the Government House, Rayfield, so
\nthat workers could connect to the world, learn more and interact with others
\neasily.<\/p>\n
