Residents of Abakpa and Unguwar Shanu quarters in Kaduna State have\u00a0decried\u00a0 decried the non-evacuation of refuse dump \u00a0in the area.<\/p>\n
The residents, who spoke with our correspondent on Saturday, expressed concern over the inability of the Kaduna State Government and the Kaduna North Local Government authority to remove the refuse dump in the area.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Jamilu Idris, a youth leader in the area, said the refuse constituted\u00a0a health hazard to the residents as they were exposed to\u00a0epidemics and diseases.<\/p>\n
Another resident, Alhaji Lawal Ado, said that the refuse dump\u00a0 was\u00a0forcing people to move out of the area due to reports of\u00a0cholera outbreaks, among other\u00a0health hazards.<\/p>\n
Ado said that\u00a0the monthly sanitation had become irrelevant\u00a0since the refuse\u00a0collected after clean up exercise was not cleared by\u00a0the authorities.<\/p>\n
Danjuma Hassan a civil servant, noted that polythene bags accounted for most the waste generated in the area and\u00a0canvassed for the regulation of its usage.<\/p>\n
