{"id":35699,"date":"2012-01-27T01:14:48","date_gmt":"2012-01-27T05:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=35699"},"modified":"2012-01-27T01:14:48","modified_gmt":"2012-01-27T05:14:48","slug":"rim%e2%80%99s-chief-executives-resign-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/2012\/01\/rim%e2%80%99s-chief-executives-resign-appointments\/","title":{"rendered":"RIM\u2019s Chief Executives Resign Appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The joint chairmen of Research in Motion (RIM) Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis have resigned their appointments as part of a long-awaited shake-up at the troubled Canadian maker of the Black Berry (BB) smart phone.<\/p>\n<p>RIM pointed out that Lazaridis will still act as vice-chairman and head of a new board committee on innovation.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation also said that Balsillie would leave the company, but will serve as its director.<\/p>\n<p>It further announced that the former chief operating officer for product and sales, Thorsten Heins is to serve as its new chief executive.<\/p>\n<p>The Tide\u2019s investigation has it that Heins joined the services of the company sometime in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>The phone maker, explained that the changes is an orderly succession initiated by the two former chief executives.<\/p>\n<p>The Tide gathered that RIM shares, shed more than three-quarters of their value in less than two years.<\/p>\n<p>The company which wanted to remain in shape managed to respond to some mounting competition especially from Apple\u2019s iphone and Android-based services.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon, Samsung, Nokia have been named as the possible suitors, should the speculation of RIM takeover is anything to go by.<\/p>\n<p>The new chief executive, Heins, noted that he has to ensure that RIM ranks among the top three world\u2019s wireless leaders.<\/p>\n<p>He also informed that he will solidify Black Berry\u2019s position in the corporate market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The joint chairmen of Research in Motion (RIM) Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis have resigned their appointments as part of a long-awaited shake-up at the troubled Canadian maker of the Black Berry (BB) smart phone.
